NUJ Lauds New NBA President

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Rivers State Council has congratulated the newly elected National President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Barrister Okechukwu Wali (SAN).

According to a statement issued by its State Chairman, Mr Opaka Dokubo and the State Secretary, Mr Stanley Job Stanley, the election of Okechukwu Wali at the just concluded National delegates conference in Abuja was heart warming considering his invaluable contributions to the growth of the legal profession in Nigeria.

According to the statement, the elevation of, Barrister Okechukwu Wali has not only brought honour to the people of Rivers State as the second Rivers man to occupy the exalted and prestigious office, but to the entire people of South-South region.

The Union described Barrister Wali as an astute lawyer who has made his mark in his chosen profession and urged him not to rest on his oars but use his new office to further advance and better the cause of justice in the country.

Meanwhile, a general meeting of the Rivers State Council of the NUJ holds tomorrow, Thursday, 26th July, 2012 at the Union’s Temporary Secretariat, The Tide Premises, No.4 Ikwerre Road, Port Harcourt.

The State Secretary of the NUJ, Mr  Stanley Job Stanley said the meeting will commence at 4pm and enjoined members to attend promptly.
