The chairman of Nigeria Premier League Board (NPL) Chief Ramson Baribote has disclosed that plans have been concluded to ensure that Nigeria Premier league fall in line with other football leagues in the world.
Chief Baribote made this known in an interview with Tidesports this week in Port Harcourt during the official reception organised for Dolphins and Rivers Angels FCs.
According to him, by next football season, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and NPL would come-up with a better plan to ensure that the all competitions end according to their schedules.
“I am optimistic that by next football season our league would catch-up with other league seasons in the world.
All the issues of federation cup continental and league game would fall in line. NFF and NPL would draw up plans to ensure that the games end within the scheduled date.” Baribite said.
The NPL boss, further revealed that the on going league season would not end as it was originally slated for 15th July, but would get to the second week of August.
“Initially we proposed that the league is going to end by 15th July, but now there will be a delay for about one to three weeks” he stated.
He commended the Rivers State governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi over the car and cash rewards given to the coaches and players of Dolphins and Rivers Angels FCs.
“What happened is a good thing. Am sure this is the first time a female team is rewarded with a car gift.” Baribite noted.
The NPL boss used the forum to appeal to other governors to emulate governor Amaechi, saying that rewarding of athletes is another good way to motivate them to win more laurels.
“Other governors should emulate Amaechi’s gesture, this will motivate the players to put in more efforts to do well, he added.
