President of Africa Hope Foundation, Edith Ugwuanyi yesterday advised the public to be mindful of the safety of food and water they take to safeguard their health.

Ugwuanyi said  in Enugu that the consumption of unhygienic food and water posed health risk and could lead to death.

Africa Hope Foundation is a U.S.-based NGO, newly inaugurated in the country to champion the safety of food and water.

Ugwuanyi said that one of the aims of the NGO was to sensitise the public on how to avoid drinking and eating of unsafe water and food.

“The organisation is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Health to save lives and educate Nigerians on the safety of consuming food and water.

“Our main concern is to save lives, through teaching people how to maintain good hygiene and healthy life.

“The programmes of the organisation will help to change the attitude of citizens, particularly those in rural areas so as to improve their health,” she said.

Ugwuanyi said that her love for the country motivated her to establish the organisation to save the lives of the people after staying abroad for some years.

She solicited for moral and financial support of the public to enable the organisation to achieve its objective as a humanitarian body.

She said that the organisation as a new foundation, solicited for support from government, corporate bodies and public spirited individuals to move forward.

“We can be our brother’s and sister’s keeper through our little contributions in sensitising him or her on how to live a healthy life,” Ugwuanyi said.
