NAOC Donates Library Equipment To Communities
In fulfilment of the terms of Memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC), Egbolom community in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State and Oki-ama community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, the company has donated household /library furniture, books among other equipment to the respective communities.
The Tide reports that Egbolom received household furniture and other equipment, while Oki-ama received Library furniture and books.
Presenting the items last Friday in Port Harcourt, NAOC General Manager, District, Giovanni Salvini, represented by the Public Relations, Communication and Government Laison Manager, Prince Nwachuku Obi, said that the official hand over of the items to the respective communities is in line with the objective and vision of the company and its joint ventures to empower, enhance manpower development and improve the standard of living of its host communities.
He posited that the gesture will further cement the existing cordial relationship between the communities and NAOC and urged the people of Egbolom and Okiama communities to reciprocate the gesture by maintaining the existing peaceful environment for the company’s operations to thrive.
In a vote of thanks, the Egbolom Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman, Ogadi Dirokweni expressed appreciation at the magnanimity of NAOC toward infrastructure development in the area, assuring that the community will on its part promote the cordial relationship as well as encourage oil exploration in the area.
He, however, urged NAOC to provide security and ensure the general maintenance of the Health Centre recently commissioned in the area.
The Deputy Paramount ruler of Oki-ama community, Chief Isinkumo Tax Bugu commended Agip for the kind gesture, saying that the commitment of the company toward community development is worthy of emulation.
According to him, “as partners in progress, we assure to maintain peace, law and order to enhance the smooth operation of the company and its joint ventures.”
He charged the company to continue in its effort at improving the living standard of the host communities across the Niger Delta.
