LG Sponsors Three To American Sports Academy

Chairman of Eche Local Government Area, Rivers State, Barrister Reginald Ukwuoma at the weekend disclosed that his administration is sponsoring three youths in the area to a sports academy in the United States of America.

Barrister Ukwuoma disclosed this during an interview with The Tide in  his office at Okehi, the headquarters of the council.

The Chairman, who did not disclose the identity of the beneficiaries hinted that their selection cut across the three clans in the area.

He revealed that the council had concluded payment of all the fees demonded by the Sports Academy, while two out of the three visas for the beneficiaries have been obtained.

He explained that the purpose of sponsoring the youths to the academy was to give them the needed opportunity to hone their talents outside the shores of the continent.

The council boss disclosed that they would combine the sports training  with education, adding that his administration places high premium on youth development  in the area.

He opined that youths are the leaders of tomorrow and that there is urgent need to give them the necessary training that would equip them for the task ahead of them.

Barrister Ukwuoma advised the youths in the area to continue to preach peace for development to thrive in the area, adding that there would be no meaningful development in an atmosphere of rancour violence and distrust.
