High Tension Cable Kills 40-Yr Old Man

Tragedy strucked early hours of Wednesday in Diobu in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, when a high tension cable belonging to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) electrocuted a 40 year old man.

The incident which occurred along the busy Iloabuchi axis of Port Harcourt metropolis attracted sympathizers from all over the neighbourhood cities to catch a glimpse of the incident.

The deceased, simply identified as Mr Imeh was said to be a driver and hails from Akwa-Ibom State.

An eye witness who spoke to The Tide said the deceased was electrocuted while answering a call in an uncompleted two-storey building under a high tension cable.

According to the source, the late Imeh had earlier been warned  to keep away from the high tension cable but he paid a deaf ear to the advice.

The Tide learnt that the deceased who drives a commercial bus lost all his properties to a fire incident last month.

The Tide further learnt that the body of the deceased has been deposited at an undisclosed mortuary.

When contacted an phone, the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Ben Ugwuegbulam said he was not aware of the incident.

It would be recalled that high tension cable electrocuted 10 persons and injured 13 others in 2010 at the Slaughter Zoological Park axis of  Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt.
