Electronics Dealer Docked Over 419 Offences

A 27 year old electronics dealer, Mr Richard Imoke residing at Rumukrushi in Obio/Akpor Local Government of Rivers State has been arraigned before a Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing by tricks, otherwise known’s as 419 offences.

The accused person, Richard Imoke, 27 is standing trial on a three court charge bordering on stealing by pretence and false representation before Chief Magistrate E.C Woke.

The prosecuting police offence, Sergeant Adiari Idafi told the court that the accused person on the 28th day of June, 2012 at no 44 King Perekule Street GRA Phase II within the Port Harcourt Magisterial district did fraudulently obtained the sum of Sixty five thousand naira (N65,000.00) from one Anozie Ikedi with the pretence of supplying  LG television to him a representation the accused person know to be false.

The police prosecution also alleged that the accused person obtained the sum of eighty eight thousand naira (N88,000) from one Victor Asadu and the sum of thirty thousand naira (N30,000) from one Ngozi Ramap to supplied them LG television respectively.

He averred that the accused person committed an offence punishable under section 419 of the criminal code cap 37 laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.

The accused person pleaded not guilty on the charges brought against him.

The police prosecutor however, did not opposed the bail application as sought by the counsel to the accused person.

The presiding chief magistrate E.C Woke granted the accused person bail with N200,000 one surety and four passports in like sum. The case was later adjourned to 30/8/2012 for hearing.
