Dame Amaechi Urges Education, Empowerment For Women

First Lady of Rivers State Dame Judith Amaechi, has identified education and empowerment as key ingredients in advancing and promoting the dignity and rights of the woman.

Dame Amaechi stated this during the 2012 Cran Montana forum plenary session on the promotion of women’s rights and dignity at Baku Azerbaijan Republic recently.

She stated that the rights of women must be protected through regular inter-face among all stakeholders.

Mrs Amaechi stated that the promotion of the rights of women can guarantee protection of human rights and ensures global peace and harmony.

The Governor’s wife stated that violation of the right and dignity of women have gone beyond harmful traditional practice and added that food insecurity, healthcare, economic and political instability as well as environmental degradation are violation of the women’s rights.

Mrs Amaechi also disclosed that if the rights of women must be upheld and respected, all efforts must be put in place to inculcate right values in the children.

“It is about time we grew a generation of people with the right values, we must be interested in people who will be interested in protecting their rights and have respects for others” she added.

Mrs Amaechi who addressed the international audience including the First Lady of Azerbaijan, Mrs Mehriban Aziyera, said countries must endeavour to develop investment in pre-school education and begin the process of educating the children on their rights and to protect them.

The forum was established in the 80’s at Crans Montana Switzerland to cross fertilise ideas on global economic challenges.

Media Assistant to the First Lady Dike Bekwele reports that the forum was attended by investors across the globe, including the Rivers State Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and his wife Judith.
