Wife of Rivers State Governor, Dame Judith Amaechi has urged newly married couples to always put God first, if they want their marriage to succeed.

She gave the counsel during the wedding ceremony of Mimi Fortune Oguru and Allen Nwenenda Nyeche at the weekend in Port Harcourt.

Dame Amaechi, who prayed for the couple to have a successful marriage, also advised the bride to see her husband as her head,” don’t you take him on in public ‘’, she added.

Chairman of the occasion and former Minister of State for Water Resources, Hon. Precious Ngalale while congratulating the new couple said the marriage had further cemented the relationship between the Eleme and Evo kingdoms.

The former Minister said the Ogurus are exceptional and God fearing people and expressed the hope that the new couple would maintain the good name and integrity of the family.

Earlier in his sermon, Bishop of the Anglican Missionary Diocese of Ogoni, Rt. Rev. Solomon Gberebara described marriage as a divine institution in which the couple must view themselves as one.

Bishop Gberebara said,” the opinion of the other has to be listened…that means they would submit to one another’’.

Father to the bride and Permanent Secretary, Government House, Mr Fortune Oguru expressed happiness over the successful wedding of his daughter and called on the couple to hold on tightly to God.

He warned them of seeking and receiving third party intervention in their activities as that will spell doom to their happiness.

The Permanent Secretary also urged parents to allow their children to marry from the place of their choice, pointing out that dictation for children does not always augur well for couples.
