Chime Swears-In Perm Secs, Auditor-General
Five new permanent secretaries and the state Auditor –General appointed by the Enugu State Governor, Barrister Sullivan Chime, have been sworn-in at the Government House, Enugu.
The permanent secretaries were, Messrs. Agbo Emmanuel, Agu John Igwebuike and Mrs. Angela Gbanite. Others are Messrs Gerald Nnaji and Ikechukwu Innocent Onyia, while Mr. Amadi Vincent Ogbonna was separately sworn-in as the state Auditor-General.
The swearing-in ceremony was administered by the state solicitor-General, Mrs. Chimelia Onaga in the presence of the Deputy Governor of the state, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, on behalf of the Governor.
Speaking shortly after the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Chime, charged the permanent secretaries to see their appointment as a call to greater service and should therefore go all out to implement Government policies and the four point agenda without delay.
The Governor informed them that their appointment was based on merit and track record, adding that they should bring their past experience to bear in the discharge of their duties.
He reminded them that they have a lot of challenges before them especially in the area of discipline since a good number of their colleagues have failed to instill discipline to the extent of shying away from issuing queries to their erring staff.
Governor Chime enumerated corruption, delays in the execution of Government policies as other challenges facing the permanent secretaries, warning that Government would not hesitate to review the appointment of any permanent secretary that fails to perform.
Responding on behalf of her colleagues, Mrs. Angela Gbanite thanked the State Government for finding them worthy to serve, assuring their readiness to join hands with the Governor to move the state civil service forward and justify the confidence reposed in them.
