Board Tasks Students On Peace, Security

The Rivers State Post Primary Schools Board (PPSB), has called on secondary school students in Rivers State to shun violence and embrace peace and orderliness in their academic pursuits.

The Board member in charge of supervision, Dr Akikibofori Jacob Sunday, gave the charge while addressing staff and students of Community Secondary School, Rumuopara in Obio/Akpor Local Government  Area which was recently engulfed in crisis.

Dr Jacob Sunday, who was on an official visit with the board’s supervisory team to the school, noted that the crisis that engulfed the school leading to the death of a student, had earned the school a notorious reputation,but commended the school authorities and students over the restoration of peace and normal academic activities in the school.

As part of efforts to restore peace and stimulate academic competition and sporting activities among students in the school, the Board member presented five trophies  donated by the Board to the school authorities.

He said  two of the trophies were for sports competition among male and female students, while three were for the best students in SS1, SS11 and SS111.

The Board member thanked members of the civil defence corps and  man-o-war for helping to restore peace in the school.

It could be recalled that the Community Secondary School, Rumuopara, was recently disrupted of normal academic activities following a violence clash among the students that  led to the death of a student.
