Accused In Court Over Theft Of Armoured Cables
A 25 years old man, Lucky Emmanuel, has been arraigned before a Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing amoured cables.
The accused person, and others now at large are standing trial on a two count charge bordering on felony and stealing before a Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court presided over by I.F. Iyiabo.
The Prosecuting Police Officer, Inspector Wilson Isaiah told the court that the accused person and others now at large on the 31st of May, 2012 at Profeb Close, GRA Phase II, Port Harcourt in the Port Harcourt magisterial district, did conspire among themselves to commit felony to wit – stealing.
The Police Prosecutor also alleged that the accused person, and others now at large on the same date and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did steal armoured cables valued at five hundred thousand naira (N500,000) only, property of Profeb Close Community, GRA Phase II, Port Harcourt.
He averred that the accused persons committed an offence punishable under section 516 (1) and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume II laws of Rivers State.
The accused person, Lucky Emmanuel pleaded not guilty to the two count charges brought against him.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, I.F. Iyiabo granted the accused bail to the tune of N500,000, one surety and two passports in like sum and later adjourned the matter to 11th July, 2012 for further hearing.
