Who’s Who In Rivers Records Boost

The Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC) publishers of The Tide group of newspapers, has concluded plans to unveil the first ever compendium on the profiles of personalities who have shaped events in Rivers State since its creation 45 years ago.

According to a statement made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt, the book entitled’ “Who is Who in Rivers State; is a detailed profile of great personalities whose lives and times have influenced the course of history in the state.

According to the statement, special men and women of rare ingenuity, hardwork, commitment and leadership scripted the success story of the state.

“Forty-five years gone, now is the time to identify and document, for posterity, such distinguished personalities whose outstanding hardwork and  sacrifices made possible the great heights thus far attained and others pushing the future, to even greater heights”.

It further said that apart from historic figures of great renown, the book would also enlist all serving and former state chief executives, serving and former federal ministers from the state, serving and former members of the National and State Assemblies, and serving and former members of the Rivers State Executive Council.

Also to be enlisted are , all serving and former Chief Judges, serving and retired Judges and Magistrates of the state, recognised traditional rulers, serving and former Permanent Secretaries, serving and former heads of tertiary institutions and accomplished academicians of both national and international repute.

The rest are, accomplished administrators, captains of industry, business moguls, politicians of national repute, sport personalities and artistes who have made the state proud.

The book would also enlists accomplished professionals in law, medicine, engineering as  well as serving and former women leaders.

Speaking on preparations for the publication of the first ever Who is Who in Rivers State, the General Manager of the Corporation, Mr Celestine Ogolo said that the proposed one  hundred pages book would act a source of inspiration to the present and future generations of Rivers youth.

The unveiling ceremony has been fixed for December, 2012.
