Three Docked Over Theft
The police in Lagos last Thursday arraigned three employees of a guest house for allegedly stealing proceeds realised from the facility.
Emeka Okeke (19), Chigozie Irowele (36) and Cecillia Godwin (28) are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
Okeke, a hotel attendant, resides at No 6. Alhaji Ottun St., Surulere, Irowele, another attendant resides at No. 1 Obananjo St., Ojuelegba and Godwin, a house maid, resides at 38 Unim St., Surulere.
The prosecutor, Insp. Akeem Raji, told the court that the trio, between April and May, conspired to steal the N250,000 realised as proceeds from Amanda Guest House, located at No. 3 Maduoguru Moronu St., Surulere.
He said that the accused always claimed that they did not have customers even when the owner of the facility arranged with some people to lodge in the place.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
The three accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Magistrate A.O Gbajumo granted them bail in the sum of N100, 000.
She adjourned the case till July 3 for mention.
