Rivers TMG Wants Electronic Voting In 2015

The Rivers State officers of the Transition Monetary Group (TMG), has expressed the hope that the Independent National Electroral Commission (INEC) would apply the use of electronics in the 2015 general elections in the country.

The new state coordinator of the group, Mr. Chidi Asimobi who said this in an interview with newsmen shortly after his election in Port Harcourt also pledged to assist the commission to ensure hitch-free general elections in the state.

Mr. Asimobi who is of the Centre for Development and Support Initiative (CEDSI) also said that the TMG would embark on sensitisation across the state to enlighten the people on their right to elect credible leaders come 2015 general elections.

According to him, Nigerians needed to be enlightened to not only know their rights but ensure that credible leaders were given the opportunity to lead the society.

He thanked members for the confidence reposed on him, promising not to disappoint them.

Also speaking, Ambassador (Mrs) Christie Iwezor described the process for the emergence of the new executive as free and fair.

Mrs. Iwezor who was an observer during the election said that the situation marked a new beginning in the state as far as TMG was concerned, and urged the new leadership to be vanguard in ensuring free and credible election in the state.

Also speaking, Mr. Sylvester Okoduwa said that the election was based on the directive of the South South zonal office.
