As part of the programmes lined up for the bi-annual maternal, new born/child health week, pregnant and lactating women have been provided with tetanus vaccination.

Pregnant women as well as breastfeeding mothers took advantage of the period and got themselves vaccinated against tetanus.

Speaking on the week-long programme which started on Monday, June 18, the Health Commissioner, Dr. Tamunoyoriari Parker said it was part of efforts to tackle the challenges of high maternal and under five morbidity and mortality.

Also provided were family planning education and distribution of commodities as well as antenatal clinic attendance.
