Police Ban Football Viewing Centres In Plateau
The Plateau Police Commissioner, Mr. Emmanuel Ayeni, has warned operators of football viewing centres to abide by the ban imposed on their activities or face the wrath of the law.
Ayeni, in a statement made available to newsmen in Jos at the weekend, said that with the security challenges facing the state, the centres should cease from operations for now.
“The warning has become imperative considering the present security challenges occasioned by incessant bomb attacks by perpetrators.
“It is worthy of note that such viewing centres have become targets of attack by the suicide bombers as more persons congregate,” Ayeni said.
He said the perpetrators of bomb attacks were targeting crowds and such opportunity should not be given to them to unleash mayhem on the people of Plateau.
The police boss, however, called on parents to warn their wards to desist from patronising such centres to avoid falling victims of attacks.
“Your understanding and cooperation in this regard will go a long way in not making the good people of Plateau vulnerable to avoidable attacks.”
