NTTF Begins Camping
The National Coach of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), Nasiru Bello, said that the four London 2012 Olympic bound players will commence camping on Thursday in Ibadan.
The four players qualified for the Olympics singles event at the 10th All Africa Games (AAG) in Maputo, Mozambique in 2011.
They were two males Segun Toriola and Aruna Quadri and two females, Funke Oshonaike and Edem Offiong.
Bello told newsmen in Lagos that the camping would also involve the Para-Olympic bound table tennis players.
He said that the directive for the camping at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan was from the National Sports Commission (NSC).
The coach said that one of the foreign based players, Quadri has arrived in Nigeria while the rest were expected to arrive from this week.
The coach, who commended the NSC for the camping however expressed concern that the camping was almost late.
He said that Egypt and some other countries had started camping and embarked on training tour immediately after the last AAG.
According to him early preparation and the training tour will be added advantage to Egypt and other countries which had started on time.
