Nembe City FC Graduates To Premier League
The Nembe City FC of Bayelsa has gained promotion from the National League to the Nigeria Premier League with 31 points.
The team, owned by Nigeria Premier League Boss, Chief Victor Baribote, played a goalless draw at the Uyo Stadium with second placed Akwa Starlet FC of Oron.
Though with one round of match to go in the division, the team has set an unassailable six points gap over Akwa Starlet of Oron with 24 points and second in position on the league table.
Baribote told sports journalists after the encounter that his team deserved the promotion because they worked hard from the commencement of the competition.
Coach Olabode Awolakan of the Oron Starlet described the outcome of the match as quite unfortunate, as the result had placed his team out of the chances to clinch the premier league ticket.
‘’It is a match we ought to win but that is the game of football, some times you win, while some times lose.
‘’We still maintain second in the ranking but our plans now are to go back to our drawing board so that we will make it up next season.
‘’We thank God that we were able to make the team one of teams to be reckoned with in Nigeria football being that we just came into the National League for the first time and were able to go up to this extent,’’ he Awolakan said.
