The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is employing the use of cutting edge technology to track counterfeiters.

The Director General of the Agency, Dr. Paul Orhii said this during the 9th annual award ceremony for winners of NAFDAC consumer safety club programme organised for secondary schools in Calabar the Cross River State Capital.

Dr. Orhii said that the competition was part of the agency’s strategies targeted at the youths with a view to eradicating fake/substandard products and at the same time enthrone quality culture among Nigerians.

The NAFDAC boss who was represented by the Cross River State Coordinator, Mr. Kayode Fagboyo urged the youths to be agents of change, by propagating virtues that can lead to behavioural change.

“We deem it expedient to immunize our society against counterfeits by re-orientating our youths through the activities of NCSC. The agency took the initiative of catching them young by inaugurating the NCSC in 2003 with the aim of informing and educating members  towards collaborating with NAFDAC on safeguarding the health of the nation,” he said.

He used the occasion to call on the students to use their membership of the club to assist in information flow on NAFDAC regulatory activities and promote the fight against fake and counterfeits regulated products adding that NAFDAC’s mission is to mould a future generation that is not only empowered to be upright, but demands uprightness from others.
