Man Bags 3 Years Imprisonment For Stealing Recharge Cards
A middle aged man, Ikenna Anyanwu, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment without an option of fine by a Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court.
The convict, Ikenna Anyanwu, 27, was arraigned on a three court charge bordering on felony and stealing before a Chief Magistrate Court presided over by I. F. Iyiabo Esq.
Before the sentence, the convict was said to have on the 14th day of May, 2012 at about 1800hrs, along LNG Road, Amadi Ama, Port Harcourt in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District did conspire with another accused now at large stole 13 packets of Startime Recharge Cards valued at N140,000 and cash of N473,000 totaling N613,600 property of one Okechukwu Eze thereby, committed an offence punishable under section 516 A, and 390 (9) Cap C 38 Vol.11 Laws of Rivers State 1999.
The convict, Ikenna Anyanwu pleaded guilty on the changes brought against him before the court.
Delivering the judgement the presiding Chief Magistrate, I.F. Iyiabo said Ikenna Anyanwu had pleaded guilty in all the charges as well as made confessional statements during the process of trial and prosecution.
The presiding Chief Magistrate said in the law when the accused person has accepted committing the allegations as charged and pleaded guilty there was no need for further proof by the prosecution.
He therefore, found him guilty on the charge brought against him in line with his acceptance to have committed the offence and accordingly, sentenced him to three years imprisonment without option of fine.
