Flood Traps Asaba Residents

Residents of  Asaba were Thursday again trapped in their homes, as flood took over most roads and streets in the Delta capital,our correspondent reports.

Early morning rains, which started around 3 a.m. and stopped only few minutes before 6 a.m., was the third since the beginning of the week.

Investigation reveals that like the Sunday night and Tuesday early morning rains, roads and street in the state capital were flooded thereby making it impassable for pedestrians, motorists and motorcyclists.

This had further prompted the increase in transport fare commercial drivers and motorcyclists.

A visit to Biose Mantu Street off the Direct Labour Agency (DLA) road, saw pedestrians removing their shoes to pass through the flooded road. Some vehicles and motorcycles even packed up in the flooded water.

At the DLA road, a portion of the road very close to the Oshimili South Local Government Area Secretariat had been divided into two by flood.

This has forced road users on that road to divert through either feeder roads or the Benin-Asaba Expressway.

Similarly, at the Jesus Saves, Okpanam, and Anwai Government House roads the story was the same, as the flood had slowed down vehicular movements on the roads and more vehicles broken down.
