Farmers Endorse AG- Zyme Fertiliser
Farmers in Abuja on Tuesday endorsed the AG-Zyme fertiliser which they adjudged to be better in boosting yields, our correspondent reports.
The farmers gave their endorsement at an interactive and sensitisation workshop organised by the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) and some commodity Associations to showcase the potential of AG-Zyme.
The event was organised in collaboration with Zenith Energy Enzymes Limited and Nitag Consult Limited.
In a presentation titled “Empowering Farmers through enhanced Management of soil with AG- Enzymes, Mrs Edith Anekwe, the Managing Director of Zenith Energy Enzymes Limited, aid that the fertiliser was a better substitute for inorganic fertiliser.
According to Anekwe, the fertiliser is environment-friendly, helps to slow down erosion and when sprayed, helps regulate moisture as well as develops good foliage in plants.
She said that AG-Zyme had a trace element that slowed the growth of weeds and also helps in pest control.
She further described AG-Zyme as a “comprehensive agricultural conditioning agent highly effective, simple to use, cost effective and completely non-toxic”.
“It is a complex non-bacterial organic formulation, designed to meet the needs of water sensitive agro-environment and also contains no bacteria or genetically engineered microbes.”
In his assessment of the product, the Financial Secretary of AFAN, Dr Tunde Arosanyin, who also represented the Cocoa Farmers Association, noted that the product had the capacity to increase crop yield to the ordinary fertiliser.
Arosanyin said: “some farmers who used this fertiliser in the past; sometime in 2010 when it came to Nigeria, had attested to me that the product was good.
“They said it has the capacity to increase the yield of crops in comparison to other regular fertilisers.”
Stakeholders at the workshop from across the states, urged the consultants to make the product accessible and at an affordable price in the market.
The farmers also urged the Federal Government to purchase the product and include it in the inputs being given to farmers this year and beyond.
