Expert Lists Dangers Of Eye Pencil

Ladies who often patronise the use of ‘eye pencil’, as a beautification item, have been warned of its alleged dangerous potentials.

In a health, safety and environment  awareness lecture organised recently by the Kramisco Safety Service here in Port Harcourt, the manager, Bertha Uwakwe, emphasised on the lead content of “Eye Pencil’, the black part, which renders it poisonous to human skin.

Qualifying the “Eye pencil” as a safety hazard, the manager insisted that users subject themselves to health and safety risk even as she maintains that the black substance is lead and is harmful to the eyes.

Also highlighted as a health hazard are some facial powders, which had been in use over the years as  substances for beautification.

Although she could not distinguish between the harmful and the skin-friendly powder, Bertha insists that while some facial powders and make-ups are silica-causing agents which are highly harmful to the skin, others are made from natural products.

She therefore, advises users to go for the ones made with natural products.
