Dana Plane Crash: PHCN Restores Electricity To Affected Area
The Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), last Tuesday said it had started restoring electricity to Iju-Ishaga area of Lagos where the crashed Dana plane destroyed the facilities.
The management of PHCN in Abule-Egba Business Unit said that they had deployed men and materials to the affected area.
Our correspondent reports that the area has been without electricity since the plane crash on Sunday, June 3.
Mr Gabriel Ezeokoli, PHCN Business Manager in the area, told The Tide that they were working earnestly to restore electricity to the area.
He said that the PHCN had committed materials to restore power to the area.
“The CEO of the zone has deployed about 12 poles and cables to the area to commence re-electrification.
“We could not get access to the site during the evacuation process to assess the level of damage.
“Now that we have access to the place, we have commenced replacing all affected poles and cables,’’ he said.
Ezeokoli said that the PHCN technical unit had commenced erecting new poles in the areas.
According to him, the initial assessment of the area showed that many poles and cables were damaged, but the transformers were not affected.
The business manager said that PHCN was replacing all damaged infrastructure at no cost to the community.
“Nobody demanded money from the community or residents. The situation in the area does not call for that and nobody could have done that.
“With what happened to the people of the area, I don’t think anybody will demand for money,’’ he said.
