Council Boss Tasks Contractors On Road Projects

Contractors handling the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro roads and the Olom-Nkoro link road have been called upon to complete their projects on schedule to enable the people enjoy the dividends of democracy.

The Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, Rivers State, Hon. Maclean Uranta made the call when he paid an unscheduled visit to the site of the on-going projects recently.

Hon. Uranta said the contractors should redouble their efforts in order to complete the project as scheduled.

The council boss who  expressed dismay over the delay by the contractors, commended the progress and quality of the work on the unity road and the Olom-Nkoro link road project.

He said they should expedite action and ensure that they win the confidence of the Rivers State Government that awarded the contracts some years ago.

In his speech, the Site Manager of Rivigo, the contracting firm handling the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro unity road, Engr. Leyira Kamalu assured that they would do their best to ensure completion of the projects according to specification.

Engr. Kamalu lauded the governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for his support towards the project and further assured that they would not disappoint them but live up to expectation.

Meanwhile, a Public analyst and indigene of Andoni, Frank Macaulay has described the link – road project as historic, as it would create mutual understanding between the people of Andoni and Ogoni, adding that,  it would boost economic activities and ease the difficulties of water transportation.

Mr. Macaulay appealed to the authorities concern to expedite action and ensure its completion on schedule.
