Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Hon Fred Igwe, has charged the State owned clubs, Sharks, Dolphins and Rivers Angels FCs to win the league and Federation Cup titles this season.

Hon Igwe, who stated this while addressing the management and members of the clubs in Port Harcourt recently reminded them of the expectations of government and people of Rivers State from the clubs.

He remarked that the  teams have shown improvements in their outings, insisting that the clubs should do well to win the remaining fixtures in order to make the state proud.

“Sharks and Dolphins are at strategic positions on the Nigeria premier league table and have shown good improvement in their play, what we need do is winning the title as defending champions or as new entrants,” Hon Igwe stressed.

The State Commissioner further said that the state government, under the leadership of Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has done enough in the sponsorship of the teams pointing out that it was proper for the teams to reciprocate his gesture by bringing the trophy home again to the state.

Describing Rivers Angels as a formidable team, Hon Igwe encouraged the team to keep up with the winning feat it has achieved in the female league.

The Tidesports gathered that Sharks have nine outstanding matches to play, Dolphins have eight, while Rivers Angels are leading the female league table with 31 points.
