Boko Haram: Physician Calls For National Mourning
The former founder and chief consultant physician of St. Vincent’s Hospital, Enugu, Apostle Dr. Vincent Uzodike, has raised serious alarm over the current state of the nation, calling on President Goodluck Jonathan to declare without delay a period of national mourning, confession of sins, fasting and prayer to enable Nigerians pray to God for His divine intervention.
Making the call Monday while addressing newsmen at the Enugu press centre, Apostle Uzodike made it clear that God asked him to send the message across to President Jonathan, adding that Nigeria needs urgent “revival and reformation” to save the country from total collapse.
His words: “I am led by the Holy Spirit to make my first public statement to the nation now, nine years after the lord called me and sent me forth as an apostle. This is strategic because the nation is at cross roads either to obey the creator or perish. But God forbid that we perish and that is why He is intervening by sending His messengers to warn the nation and proffer a solution”.
Continuing, Apostle Uzodike who nine years ago in obedience to God’s call converted the entire hospital building into a ministry and started a full time ministration on revival and reformation, quoted to buttress his point II Chronicle 7-14 which states “If my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and repent of their sins, I will hear from heaven and forgive and heal their land.”
Britain, he went on, had revivals five times, adding that it was after one of the revivals that the printing press was invented, reasoning that “Nigeria which has been delayed by slave trade from 1700 and only embraced western civilization and education since 1843 is long over due for revival which must start now to enable us kill corruption and convert our natural wealth into genuine palpable riches”.
Expressing dissatisfaction that the only popular viable industry in Nigeria today is politics, Apostle Uzodike who will turn 80 before the end of this year added that “The quickest and surest way to become a millionaire below 30 years of age is to join politics after National Youth Service Corp and within 3 years become a legislator without any working experience in life.”
Maintaining that the importance of praying for God’s intervention this time around to revive the nation cannot be over-emphasised, Apostle Uzodike therefore urged all classes of people in all segments of the society to actively participate in the exercise should President Jonathan heeds God’s message, pointing out that it is in the overall good of the nation and the entire citizenry.
