…As Monarch Seeks More Offices In Calabar

The management of the Nigerian Postal Service had been called to establish more post offices within Calabar metropolis.

The Obong of Calabar and the grand patriarch of Efik Kingdom, His Eminence Edidem Otu Abasi made the call during a visit to his palace by the Territorial Management Staff of NIPOST, Cross River Territory led by the Area Postal Manager, Mr. Emmanuel Nwankwo.

The natural ruler used the medium to reflect on his days in the then Post and Telecommunication (P.T.) as a technician when the Post Office was the cynosure of all eyes.

Otu Abasi wished that such days of glory be re-ignited. He was equally happy that post offices were really moving according to the rhythm and pace of Information and Communication Technology (ICT)where both can complement each other in a bid to attain development goals.

The area postal manager, Mr Emmanuel Nwankwo informed the Obong that the team was in the palace to brief him on the transformation in the Nigerian Postal Service as well as introduce the organisation’s repackaged products and services to meet the changing needs of the public.

Nwankwo said as part of the transformation in Nipost, Management had embarked on counter automation to cash in on the benefits of Information Communication Technology.

He also listed some of the products to include  post cash, EMS/Speed post; an electronic money transfer, courier service.

Furthermore, he emphasised that Nipost was educating the public on its statutory requirement to implement the recent Federal Government reinvigorated Stamp Duties Act as contained in CAP 114, law of the country.
