APGA Scribe Gives Conditions For Members Recall

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State, says the former Special Adviser to the Governor on Parks and Markets, Chief Sylva Nwobu-Alor and two other members suspended from the party, may be recalled.

They must, however, express and show remorse for the development that led to their suspension.

The State Secretary of the party, Mr Okoli Akirika, gave the conditions in Awka recently during  an interview.

Nwobu-Alor and two others were suspended a month ago over their alleged involvement in the sacking of the party’s state executive committee.

The suspended members were also alleged to have engaged in anti-party activities capable of creating problems for the party.

Akirika maintained that their suspension and other wrangling among members did not mean that the party was in crisis.

“There is no crisis in the party. What we have in APGA is an unfamiliar family affair. APGA remains one united and indivisible political party recognised by law.

“What we cannot condone is an individual or a group of persons to intentionally want to ridicule the integrity of our great party.

“We could have recourse to the constitution or convention on the matters arising.

“The issue could be revisited. So, if at any point, Nwobu-Alor expresses intention to come back, so be it.”

Reacting to the issue, Nwobu-Alor said that he had never been involved in any activity that threatened the existence or progress of APGA.

“All I am doing is to explore avenues to strengthen APGA, including the restructuring from the wards to the national level.’’

Nwobu-Alor, who maintained that he was still an APGA member, described his purported expulsion as “null and void and of no effect whatsoever.”

He said the “state executive of APGA is handpicked and not elected by congress as required by the constitution”.

“For seven years, no ward, local council or state congresses had been held, which means that state executive of APGA does not exist,” Nwobu-Alor maintained.
