APGA Crisis: Abia Chairman Sues For Peace

Abia State chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Prince Nnanna Ukeagbu has urged the National Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh and Gov. Peter Obi of Anambra to resolve the impasse rocking the party.

Ukaegbu told the newsmen in Aba on Saturday that the face-off between the two prominent members of the party would affect the legacies of the leader of the party, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu and the Igbos.

Agency report indicates that Umeh had in the last one month launched attack on Obi, and the clash between the two big wigs seemed to have led to the sanction against some Obi’s supporters by the party.

“I want to appeal to them to resolve the impasse in the party as quickly as possible, taking into consideration that whatever happens to APGA will invariably affect adversely the Igbos.

“Let them resolve the impasse, more so, both Umeh and Obi are children of Ojukwu and what is equally at stake is the legacy which Ojukwu left behind.

“It is behoves on us to keep the torch aglow until the Igbos get to our own promise land.”

Ukaegbu, however, noted that the crisis in the party had been blown out of proportion, first by the media and secondly by unseen hands.

“You realise that when two brothers fight each other, a third party’s duty is to advance solutions.

“I am afraid over the crisis; we have just lost our father and seeing two of our most senior brothers at each other’s throat are not something to shout about in the public.

“It is a painful thing primarily to me as one of the founding members of the party.”

He assured the public that after the internal crisis is resolved, the party will be stronger and re-positioned before the 2015 general elections.

According to him, the restructuring of the party is in progress.
