Amaechi Explains Benefits Of SEEFOR
Rivers State Governor, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi, says the State Employment and Expenditure for Result (SEEFOR) project will reduce the increasing unemployment growth in the state.
Governor Amaechi stated this while speaking at the closing ceremony of a World Bank SEEFOR-assisted programme held in Port Harcourt last Wednesday.
The state chief executive stated that the introduction of SEEFOR project in the state by the World Bank would complement government’s polices to address the problem of unemployment in the society and provide the enabling synergy between government and development agencies in the development of society.
Represented by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon Gogo Levi Charles, the governor disclosed that his administration was committed to ensure that the youth are taken-off the streets, adding that unemployment was a major cause of crime in the society.
He promised that all the projects embarked upon by the present administration would be completed before the end of his regime in 2015, adding that his administration had introduced public accountability forum to educate people on what government was doing and give them the opportunity to participate in the governance of the state.
The state chief executive thanked the World Bank for its support towards the growth of the state, adding that the people of the state were looking forward to the implementation of the SEEFOR project.
Earlier, the World Bank team leader, Dr Larbi George, lauded the state government for embracing the project as well as meeting the requirement for accessing the programme.
