Adamawa Assembly Okays 50 Special Advisers

Adamawa State House of Assembly has approved a list of 50 Special Advisers for Governor Murtala Nyako.

The Tide recalls that Governor Murtala Nyako, had last Monday, sent a list of 27 Commissioners and 50 Special Advisers to the House for consideration and confirmation.

The House, at its plenary session on Tuesday, screened 10 of the 27 nominees.

It, however, considered and approved the list of 50 Special Advisers.

Each of the 10 commissioner nominees was asked to present his/her biography and answer a few questions from members on what they had achieved.

The former commissioners who appeared before the house were those of Agriculture, Alhaji Tijjani Maksha; Works, Alhaji Umar Atku; Information, Alhaji Abubakar Abdurrahman and Health, Dr. Lawan Hamidu.

Others were Justice, Mr. Ibrahim Tahir; Land and Survey, Alhaji Abdurrahman Shuaibu; and Education, Mr. Gabriel Hama-Adama.

The new comers were Alhaji Gidado Sajoh, Alhaji Hamza Bello and Alhaji Mustapha Barkindo.

The House, which was presided over by the  Speaker, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, adjourned to Wednesday to continue the screening.

In another development, the Assembly said that it passed 17 bills and 32 resolutions within the past one year.

Briefing newsmen on the activities of the House within the period under review, the House committee chairman on information, Mr. Adamu Kamale, said the bills were sponsored by the executives.
