ACN Explains Merger Talk With CPC

The Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in FCT Mr Faruk Osuma, on Tuesday said the party had started consultation on merger with the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).

Osuma, who disclosed this in Abuja in an interview with newsmen, stressed that the planned merger was for the purpose of rebuilding the country.

“The merger talks are not about the chieftain of ACN, Asiwaju Bola Tinibu or the leader of CPC, retired Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari but about the development of the country.

“To understand and appreciate this evolving merger talks, we must look beyond the principal characters and focus on the issue; this is essentially about Nigeria, its future and unity.

“So, I hope that the current development will ultimately bring together all well meaning and patriotic progressives in Nigeria,’’ he said.

The chairman said that Nigerians should be dedicated to uplifting the country’s integrity and values to enjoy democracy.

He urged the Federal Government to provide more in the areas of health, good roads, qualitative education, regular electricity supply and food security for the citizens.

Osuma said that the issue of insecurity in Nigeria would be a thing of the past if the government would provide these facilities.
