287 Enugu Pilgrims Return From Holy Land

Two hundred and eighty-seven Christian Pilgrims from Enugu State that performed the 2011 Pilgrimage to the Holy Land have returned home successfully after completing their pilgrimage.

The pilgrims who spent about two weeks in the Holy land visited so many places of interest like Mount Tabor, Mount Camel, the 2278 meters high Mount Sinai and St. Catherine tomb

Addressing the pilgrims shortly on arrival at the Government House, Enugu, the Chairman of the State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma described the 2011 pilgrims exercise as an eventful one.

Dr. Chukwuma who is also the Bishop of Enugu Diocese of the Anglican Communion, thanked the State Governor, Mr. Sullivan Chime for his special interest and contribution, which made the exercise a huge success.

Bishop Chukwuma stated that while in the Holy land, the pilgrims prayed for Nigeria, South East, Enugu State and Governor Chime, and expressed confidence that their prayers would be answered for the peace and progress of Nigeria.

The bishop requested for the sponsorship of more pilgrims next year even as he commended local government chairmen, individuals and organisations that sponsored the pilgrim, this year.

In an interview, the Secretary to State Pilgrims Board, Mrs. Chinasa Nwaebiem and other pilgrims, Nnamdi Nwankwo, Chiegeonu Aru, Chima Anioke, Franklin Nnaemeka, Bishop John Nwaobodo described the pilgrimage as a wonderful experience.

They were optimistic that the journey could lead to a change in the character of an individual and also make people in the society more morally conscious.
