The police on Thursday arraigned a 35-year-old woman, Fidelia Orji, and four others before an Abuja Magistrates’ Court in Wuse Zone 6 on a three-count charge of joint act, assault and theft.

The police prosecutor, Sgt. Musa Ibrahim, told the court that the case was reported on April 28 by one Raymond Adie at the Utako Police Station.

He said that the woman and her gang forcibly collected the complainant’s bag at Berger Junction.

Ibrahim added that the gang, which includes Innocent Ohams, 29, Ekpe Solomon, 32, Emmanuel Agu, 43 and Inyang Amos, 42, are all members of National Union of Mobile Marketers and Advertisers of Nigeria.

The prosecutor said that the complainant was in a bus at Berger Junction when the gang members called him out and ordered him across the road to their canopy where they dispossessed him of his bag containing N12,000.

The offences, he said, were contrary to sections 79, 263 and 287 of the Penal Code.

The accused pleaded not guilty.

The magistrate, Malam Musa Ibrahim, granted them bail and adjourned the case till May 17 for hearing.
