Why Nigeria ‘ll Not Break-Up – Jonathan
R-L: President Goodluck Jonathan, his wife, Dame Patience, Governor Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna State and Chief of Staff, Mr Mike Ogiedohme, at an interdenominational church service to mark Democracy Day in Abuja, on Sunday.
As Nigeria today marks the 2012 Democracy Day, President Goodluck Jonathan, in his nationwide broadcast restates government’s stand why Nigeria cannot break up.
Despite numerous challenges and predictions of doom and disintegration, Jonathan maintains that, through prayers Nigeria would always surmount any difficulties.
In the face of numerous security, economic and social challenges, Nigeria had always waded through and , in like manner, would triumph over and above the current situation, says Jonathan.
Though terrorism sneaked into the nation’s psyche like a criminal and took everyone by surprise, the president assures the Federal Government is ready to confront the menace.
He calls for the cooperation of all Nigerians in the challenges ahead, noting that democratic dividends could only be attained in a peaceful atmosphere devoid of terror and tension.
He wants Nigerians to concentrate on the gains so far made and look up to the various efforts by government to develop human and material resources that abound in the country.
