The Tide Denied Access to Casualties

Doctors Without Boarders denied The Tide reporters access to
the casualties of the explosion which occurred yesterday at Rumuokoro in
Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The reporter went to the clinic, on hearing that some of the
victims of the explosion were receiving medical attention at hospital as to
have a chat with them but the  health
personal, a while lady (names withheld) turned our reporter back.

She explained that it was against the rules and regulations
guiding the clinic to give access to journalists to speak with any of their
patients.

‘I cannot reply you if any of such victims are right here in
our clinic or not neither can I disclose any details of our patients to you
because it is against the rules and regulations guiding our operations’, she
said.

The health officer however gave the reporter her phone
numbers to contact her in case of any need but pleaded that the reporter should
not be offended by her refusal to allow him access to patients.
