SSANU Seeks Salary Review

The leadership of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) has called for the immediate review of the salary of the union members in view of current economic realities in Nigeria.

According to the union’s National President, Comrade Sampson Ugwoke, the salaries of members of the union are due for review by the agreement reached with the Federal Government.

Comrade Ugwoke said that the 2009 agreement between the Federal Government and SSANU under the auspices of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) would be reviewed in July this year.

He stated this while delivering a seminar paper with the theme “Trade Union Leadership and the Challenges of Personal Income Tax in Nigeria” at the Michael Imoudu Institute for Labour Studies, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital

The SSANU’s President said the union’s under the JAC are namely Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associate Institutions (NASU) National Association of Academic Technologists (NAANU) and SSANU.

He said the union under JAC separately reached and signed their agreement with the Federal Government and therefore the unions are at will to seek for a review of its members salary.
