RVHA Approves New Advisers For Amaechi …Screens Two JSC Members
Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday
granted approval to the request of the governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi
Amaechi to appoint four more special Advisers (SAs) to aid him discharge the
duties of his office effectively.
The unanimous approval of the House
followed a request by the governor through a letter seeking authorisation to
appoint four more Special Advisers.

Amachree, who did not allow debate on the issue divided the House and the
entire 22 lawmakers present voted in affirmation.
Similarly the state governor has forwarded
the names of Mrs. Blessing Ndidi Elendu and Nyekazi J. Ikeka, Esq for screening
by the Assembly to be appointed as members of the Rivers State Judiciary
Service Commission (JSC).
Rt. Hon. Amachree reiterated his earlier
plea to the various House committee members to redouble their efforts in
concluding reports pending before them.
In another development, the Whip of the
Rivers State House of Assembly and members representing Andoni constituency,
Hon. Ikuinyi Ibani, has urged the public to be patient with members of the
Assembly to enable them produce only laws that would stand the test of time.
Hon. Ibani was reacting to insinuations in
some quarters about the public office holders bill, that the bill is undergoing
legislative procedure that would see the removal of irrelevant sections and
interpretations.
He noted that the bill refers specifically
to the governor and deputy and does no t apply to other public office holders
like the lawmakers and commissioners.
