Rural Dwellers Get Free Medical Treatment
The Godwin and Patricia Okeke Foundation, an NGO, has given rural dwellers in Adaziani community in Anambra one-year free medical treatment to raise their health standard.
The foundation had also built and equipped a comprehensive health centre in collaboration with the Global Health Initiative of the U.S.
Mrs Patricia Okeke, a Co-founder of the foundation, said on Tuesday that the 75 persons were picked through a raffle draw at its health fair.
Okeke also said that other patients of the clinic would now enjoy subsidised rates and a comprehensive healthcare service.
She said the facility was part of the foundation’s rural health reach-out programme, adding that arrangements were on to establish more health centres in other communities in the state.
“The rural dwellers in Adaziani will benefit a lot in terms of subsidised and comprehensive healthcare, education as well as employment opportunities.
“Some of the treatments that patients travel long distances like India to receive can now be given here at a reduced rate,” she said.
Okeke, however, called on the state government, individuals and organisations to collaborate with the foundation to keep the clinic running and also do more for the indigent patients in the state.
