Rivers Coaches Call For Resuscitation Of Scholarship Programme

Rivers State coaches have called on the
state government to revive some of the welfare programmes, especially, the
scholarship scheme, that were used to improve and motivate coaches to high
productivity.

This call was made over the weekend by the
National Vice Chairman of the Coaches Association, Mr Opakriba Harry during a
sendforth ceremony organised by Rivers State Coaches also ??? for their members
who have retried from service.

According to Harry, such incentives like
the scholarship, vehicles for mobility will enable the coaches attend courses
to improve themselves, and be able to move around to hunt for talents.

Also speaking, the Interim Chairman of the
association, Elsie Peterside, who is table tennis  coach, said that they were sending their
retired colleagues forth in recognition of their contributions to the system.

She expressed happiness that they were able
to serve and retire in good health.

The retirees were seven in number among
whom are Jonathan Ededi, Boxing, Eyee Godfrey, Wrestling, Josephine Jaja,
Basketball, Banuna Godwin, Athletics, Babatunde Olakunle, boxing, Humphrey
Briggs, Tennis and Adeleye Philip, boxing.
