Red House Wins Holy Rosary Inter-House Sports

Red House on Saturday emerged the overall
winner of the Third Annual Inter-House Sports of the Holy Rosary College Port
Harcourt, restricting the Blue and Green Houses to second and third positions,
respectively.

The event which was also used to launch the
school’s maiden calendar saw Red House while Blue and Green House placed second
and third.

In the invited schools 4 by 100m relay
race, ST a Pius College, Bodo City clinched first position and ST. Mary’s
Catholic High School, Harbour Road Port Harcourt finished in second position .

Speaking at the occasion, wife of the Governor
of Rivers State, Dame Judith Amaechi, charged the students to exhibit
discipline, obedience and commitment to their studies as future leaders.

Also, the Hon. Commissioner for Education,
Dame Alice Nimi, described the school as one of the best girls’ school that was
handed to the missions and stated the readiness of the Rivers State Governor,
Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the Ministry of Education to up granding the
standard of Education in the state.

She stated that public schools have now
become tourist centres while parents now withdraw their children from private
to public schools.  She said that,
leadership of schools need to be pro-active for change to occur in any school.

Chairman of the occasion, Comrade Eugene
Chinwo, said that, Inter-House Sports is an opportunity for students to show
case their God giving talents and commended the school for sustaining its
position as a great school.

Earlier, principal of the school, Barr.
Veronica Efika, described sporting activities as a must in the life of every
individual, both young and old for the old, it comes as exercise to keep fit
while for the young, it is both, to keep fit and express talents.

She maintained that Education should be
vary comprehensive, involving the body, the mind and the soul.
