Primate Charges Judiciary On Rule Of Law
The Primate of the African Church, the Most Rev Emmanuel Josiah Udofia, has charged the Nigerian judiciary to continue to maintain its position as the last hope of the common man.
Most Rev. Udofia who said this at a press briefing in Port Harcourt said that the judiciary should maintain her stand on being the unbiased umpire.
“The court has always been seen as the last hope of the common man. Whatever is the level of litigation, civil or criminal, the Judiciary should maintain her stand on being the unbiased umpire” he said.
The primate also stressed the need for the government to act fast to check the Boko Haram menance in the country stressing that the church will no longer accept a situation where the lives of Innocent people particularly Christians are being wasted daily.
The Most Rev. Udofia who is also the president of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) and the president of the Fellowship of Christian Councils of Churches in West Africa (FECCIWA) also urged the government to fulfill its promise of ensuring steady power supply in the country.
According to him, “it is not enough to hear about the projections for 4,000 or 6,000 Megawatts but that, there must be steady and constant supply of power to ensure that all outfits can produce as at when necessary without the fear of power outage”, he said.
The cleric also urged for accountability among public office holders, while education be given a boost.
The briefing was part of the activities for the church’s 11th annual conference in Port Harcourt.
