Police Arraign Girl Friend Killer In Court
The authorities of the Rivers State Police Command have finally arraigned, one Mr Jim Zacchaus who was accused of killing his girl friend, Peace Matthias and buried her in his room at Elechi Waterfront, Port Harcourt, last month.
The accused person Jim Zacchacus 27, is standing trial on one count charge bordering on murder and other criminal related charges before a senior magistrate court presided over by D.W. Wanjoku.
The accused person was said to have on April 7th allegedly killed his girl friend and buried her after a little quarrel that ensued between both of them.
The prosecuting police offcer, Sergeant Ikosi Omanoye told the court that the accused person on the 7th April 2012 at Elechi Beach Waterfront Mile I Diobu, Port Harcourt in Port Harcourt magisterial District did cause the death of one Miss Peace Matthias by hitting her forehead on the wall, until she died, and later buried her in a shallow grave inside one-room apartment.
The prosecution averred that the accused person committed an offence punishable under section 319(1) of the criminal code cap.37 vol.11 laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.
The accused person did not make any plea on the matter.
The presiding senior magistrate D.W. Wanjoku while remanding the accused person to prison custody ordered the prosecutor to transfer the original case file to the court registrar who will hand it over to DPP for legal advise on the matter.
The case was later adjourned to May 30,2012 for continuation.
