Governor Peter Obi of Anambra, yesterday lauded President Goodluck Jonathan for his prudent management of the country’s finances.

Speaking with newsmen in Enugu, the governor said the country’s level of borrowing had reduced drastically in the last one year, adding that it would help the country to build a better future.

Obi, who is a member of the National Economic Management Team, admitted that past administrations tackled challenges of the country wrongly, but expressed delight that they were gradually being corrected.

“His government means well because they are now beginning to do things rightly, but they are looking at the way things can be done and done correctly.

“If you look at the area of power for example, what we did in the area of power in the past is that we went the wrong way. That is why we still have so many IPP projects that are not completed.

“But now, they are saying let’s go the right route, unbundle the whole thing, privatise it, increase the tariff and have foreign investors come into it and you will see changes in a short while.

“Same thing is happening in other areas even in our finances, our level of borrowing is now coming down which will help us to build a better tomorrow.”

The governor, however, called for the support of the citizens to enable the president to achieve his Transformation Agenda for the country.
