NAFDAC Inaugurates Enforcement Directorate Office
In a bid to further strengthen its activities, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Saturday in Lagos inaugurated an office of its Enforcement Directorate.
Director-General of NAFDAC Dr Paul Orhii, said the role of the Enforcement Directorate was very crucial to the agency.
“It is, therefore, necessary to provide a well-equipped facility which will enhance NAFDAC’s efficiency and effectiveness,“ he said.
Orhii said that the agency was poised to fulfill its mandate of safeguarding public health.
“The role of the Enforcement Directorate is a huge one and key to the overall mission of the agency.
“It is, therefore, very important to ensure that the directorate works in an environment where it can carry out its duties effectively,” he said.
He said that the edifice being inaugurated was also a way of showing Nigerians that the agency was concerned about the welfare of its staff.
Meanwhile, NAFDAC’s Director of Enforcement, Dr Garuba MacDonald, said that the newly inaugurated office would improve the department’s effectiveness.
He applauded the management’s decision not to allow other departments to share the building with the Enforcement Department.
“This office is a history making one because for the first time the Enforcement Department of NAFDAC will have its own structure solely to itself.
“I want to assure the public that we will now carry out our duties more effectively and ensure that peddlers of counterfeit medicines and products are continuously brought to book,“ he said.
He said that public health would be better safeguarded by the agency with the inauguration of the office.
