Monarchs Warn Truck Drivers Against Recklessness
Truck drivers plying Etche routes in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State have been warned not to drive recklessly in the area.
The Etche Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs gave the warning in a resolution passed during their first quarterly general meeting of the year at Okehi recently.
The council attributed frequent road accidents and deaths to the lackadaisical attitude of the drivers and warned them to desist forthwith.
They also appealed to the state government to complete the Igwuruta road project, and the Chokocho/Igbo/Rumukrushi, Ulakwo/Akwa, Nihi/Odufor/Igbodo/Obibi as well as Igbodo Egbeke roads which are in a state of disrepair.
The Etche Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs commended Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for his holistic approach towards the development of the state, especially in the areas of building new schools, health centres and network of roads enjoining him not to relent, but continue to strive in taking the state to another level.
