Ministry Commissions Creche For Nursing Mothers

As part of efforts to boost productivity among its staff particularly the nursing mothers, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has commissioned acreche.

The Commissioner, Mr Chuma Chinye, while speaking during the commissioning ceremony said that the facilities which was made possible by the effort of his wife was to assist nursing mothers working in the ministry to effectively take care of their children while working.

Mr Chinye said that, the development would encourage productivity in the ministry as nursing mothers will be made to do their work without distractions.

He said that staff of the Ministry have accepted to give monthly allowances to minders that will be hired by the ministry to take care of the children.

Commissioning the facility, the Head of Service, Mrs. Esther Anucha described it as the first of its kind in the state civil service.

Mrs Anucha also said that, the facility would help nursing mothers to put in their best, while helping to boost productivity and stressed the need for other nursing mothers in the Ministry to be allowed to use it.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Joeba West said that the facility would be replicated in her ministry and called for it to be properly maintained.

Earlier, wife of the commissioner for Commerce and Industry, who is also the donor of the facility, Mrs Oke . C.  Chinye said that the gesture was to help the nursing mothers in the Ministry to perform their duties without distraction.
