Man Utd, Chile FCs For Mega Soccer Finals
Manchester United FC of Ahoada West has
beaten Young Boys FC of Port Harcourt 2-1 to reach the finals of the ongoing
Kala Mega Soccer Championship at No. 6 Field, Port Harcourt.
The match saw both teams display a lot of
zeal to outwit each other from the start of the game. In the 23rd minute,
Manchester United boys scored the opening goal which they held onto till the
end of the first half.
The second half witnessed a serious drama
where the Manchester United goalkeeper was injured but despite the injury, he
was able to continue and stood between the opponents and goals.
However, Manchester United FC who had shown
serious ambition on the competition increased the tally to two late in the
game.
A consolation goal by Young Boys FC in the
90th minute could not remedy the situation as they lost gallantly to the better
Manchester United FC by 2-1.
Speaking to sports journalists shortly
after the match, United’s goalkeeper Robinson Israel gave thanks to God for giving them victory over
their hard tackling opponents.
He also described the match as the most
difficult since joining the competition.
Also in the interview, the coach of
Manchester United FC, Nicky Otaji, commended his boys for their strong character
noting that the match seemed like the final of the competition.
“I am impressed with the overall standard
of the game. The officiating was normal and the character and approach of my
boys were very perfect.
“Sometime ago, I was involved in a competition
like this, but unfortunately we were knocked out in the semi finals. Now, I am
assuring everybody that at this stage, I have to change my tactics and make
sure that we win the trophy”, Otaji said.
Chile FC of Port Harcourt also defeated
Marine FC 5-3 through penalty shootouts in the other semi final match to
proceed to the final against Manchester United.
